How to get rid of ants under inflatables?

Each year I set up Halloween and Christmas inflatables and I always have ants under them when I put them up. I have even sprinkled out ant bait/poison and still get ants under there. Does anyone have any tips on how to prevent ants from creating mounds under inflatables?
