How should I carry cash when going through TSA at IAH? Would it be fine putting it in my wallet or better to put it in an envelope in a backpack or something else?

I am planning on bringing 2k through TSA for travel expenses and am hoping no crooked TSA agents or another flyer steals it. I am also flying domestically so declaring will not be an issue for me
