How safe is Alief/Eldridge for walks in the evening

Ik ik, its not going to be as safe as walking neighborhoods like Hunter Creek Village or River Oaks. Im looking to move into a house just west of Alief kinda off Eldridge. Getting conflicting sentiments about safety in this area, some say its ok others say to avoid entirely. Main concern is Im not sure where I can walk my dog in the evening without running into trouble. The neighborhood where the house is itself is kinda small so I imagine I'd have to either walk it around multiple times or cross some roads and get into other neighborhoods. If anyone can reccomend a good park or large neighborhood to walk my dog in the evening Id appreciate it! I know not to go late at night but would like 8-9pm be too late in the summer? Can't be walking when the sun is in full swing with my double-coat dog. Thanks for any comments
