How much did you pay for a Root Canal in Houston?

I'm one of those lucky folks who are fully insured, but still can't afford proper dental work :/ After going to the dentist for a cleaning, he told me I would need some special kind of root canal and even after insurance the out of pocket cost would exceed $3,000. I'm wondering if any of you fine folks have found some better pricing. Hopefully in the NW side of Houston, but anywhere is ok.
