How in the heck do I get rid of a sofa in this city?

I'm in the market for a new couch and every furniture store I go to tells me they can't haul away my old one. I'm in a cramped-ass one bedroom so there's not really anywhere for me to store the old one. I refuse to create an apartment dumpster-sofa, I ain't about that life.

So what's a schmuck to do? For reference, I live on the northwest side, outside the city limits.
