How Hot Is It In Your House?

Moved to the area last September from up north and bought a house built in '05/'07. So this is my first Texas summer. My AC can't catch its breath. It's running 24/7 and still can't keep up. Currently 82 in here now. I have all the blinds and shades shut, and even opened the dropdown attic door in the garage with the garage door open in an attempt to let some heat escape. My attic does appear to be insulated. I had an AC company come out a few weeks ago to even service/Summer Prep it and they said it looked pretty good and cleaned it up. To my knowledge is a newer unit that's still under warranty. I think it's 6 or 7 years old. I swapped out an inside filter last week as well. Is there anything I'm doing wrong or should be doing? Or is this just how it is in the summers and i have to deal with it?
