How easy is it to sublet my apartment in Houston?

I am considering moving to Houston (mainly due to cost of living and a desire to be closer to home). However, I am a theatre artist w/ a number of career connections (not to mention a lot of my dear friends) in NYC, and I'd love to be able to take advantage of the relative ease of getting a sublet in the NYC to visit/work up there for 1-2 months at a time.

In such a case, how easy would it be to sublet my Houston apartment? For example, is it typically allowed by landlords/management companies? Is there even a market for folks looking for sublets? Are some times of year easier for subletting than others?
