How common are roaches?

So I've just moved here from the north east where if you see a roach in your house chances are you're infested. That being said I know it's also a thing in the south where you guys aren't afraid because there common? Or am I misunderstanding.

I had cousins in Florida who wouldn't react when they saw one because they were used to itso i guess im wondering when i should start worrying.

As you can guess I've found one in my house.. well 2 actually.. one last night and one tonight. The one from last night looked like a garden roach (not the actual name) but thr one tonight I'm worried may have been the infest your house kind.

I'm horribly terrified of them and I actually feel sick now which is why I'm writing this post in hopes maybe one of you fine redditors van calm my sissy Yankee nerves. I'm currently sitting in my apartment with all the lights on dreading the power bill but praying it keeps them away

Edit to add that both these bugs were found by my cats at the top of the stairs for the door. I'm hoping my cats spotted them as they came in. We also had a frog in the apartment on the 4th of July and he was found by my cats in almost the same spot. Idk if anyone has input on that but just incase
