How can my husband get on at a plant? Been operating cranes the last decade
My husband doesn’t have Reddit so I’m reaching out for him. He is a crane operator with 12 years experience. We just moved to Texas. In our home state he always had a good job operating but it seems like over here decent jobs are hard to come by. He did get hired on as a crane operator for the union but isn’t enjoying it at all. He’s really wanting to get in at a plant. Chemical, power, any of them. He’s applied endless times but no bites. In our home state he did get interviewed with Chevron for a plant operator job and passed all their tests but ultimately didn’t get hired on. What can he do to get on at a plant? Does he need to take some college classes, get specific certificates or degrees? Any info and advice is greatly appreciated! He’s really trying to get his foot in the door at a plant and it just seems like any job opening here for a crane operator is low pay and no benefits which won’t work for us, yet any advice for crane companies is welcome as well.
Edit to add: job suggestions don’t have to be in Houston. We are full time RVers so can travel but prefer North/East Texas areas.
