How can I select the right tree for our yard?

Is there a site or resource with pictures and a good description on the behaviors of native Texas trees?

We lost an oak in a prominent space of the yard and I want to be thoughtful of what goes in its place.

Ideally not another oak because I'm tired of bagging leaves each week for 2 months.
