How can I find out what is being built in an empty lot?

There's a large lot behind my house that's been empty since I purchased my house last year. The for sale sign is gone and I see surveyors there. They couldn't tell me what, if anything, is being planned.

Is there any department I can contact to see what is planned? I'm hoping it will just be homes but I'm worried it will be large warehouse space (which is what used to be there before I purchased). Before Covid I heard it was going to be a Public Storage but I think that deal fell through.
