How bad is traffic heading out of the city during morning rush hour?

I'm moving to Houston in July, and I was looking to live in Midtown. I'll be working in the Aldine school district. Is traffic any better heading out of the city?

Google maps says that it would take approx. 20-30 mins on a weekday morning at 7:30 am, would this be accurate?

edit: I'm also looking at The Heights to live in.
