How an aviation industry tax cut could help create thousands of jobs for Texans

Some Texas lawmakers are pushing to reduce taxes in the general aviation industry in an effort to remain competitive with neighboring states.

House Bill 3003 — introduced by Rep. Ernest Bailes, R-Shepherd — would reduce and eventually eliminate the state sales tax on repair, remodeling and maintenance services on general aviation aircraft in addition to the machinery, tools, supplies and equipment used to carry out the work commonly referred to as maintenance, repair and overhaul, or MRO.
