HOV ONLY VS EZTAG ONLY

is there actually any penalty for driving in the HOV ONLY lane on the tollway WITH an EZTAG? I could see how someone without an EZTAG would need to drive through that lane at the toll cameras but if you have an EZTAG It’s ok to go through either lane. Yes/No? Been curious about this for awhile now
