Houston’s Intergalactic Pizzeria and Cocktail Bar to Unleash ‘Beetlejuice’ Fandom This September

Betelgeuse, Betelgeuse will celebrate the horror-comedy Beetlejuice sequel with permanent tattoos, themed cocktails, costume contests, and a spooky nighttime run
Yes, technically, Houston’s Betelgeuse, Betelgeuse is named after the brightest star in the constellation Orion. But the intergalactic-themed pizzeria and cocktail bar is finally giving into double entendre by dedicating a full cocktail menu and permanent tattoos to the upcoming sequel of the iconic horror-comedy film Beetlejuice.
In honor of the upcoming September 6 release of Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, the Washington location of Betelgeuse, Betelgeuse will feature two weeks of events, replete with outlandish decor, black-and-white-striped sandworm photo backdrops, Beetlejuice merchandise, and the option to immortalize the experience with permanent ink.
Both its Washington Avenue and Montrose locations will debut a drinks menu, sponsored by Suntory Global Spirits, which owns Jim Beam, and Heaven’s Door bourbon. Cocktails will include Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian (the unmade sequel), a three-rum concoction mixed with lime, Don’s mix, Falernum, grenadine, Pernod, and angostura ($16); the frozen Magician’s Assistant, a frozen haku vodka honeydew highball ($14); and a Charles Deetz, Go to Hell — a sparkling and spicy combination of whiskey, lemon, and ginger ($14). Those looking for a different type of buzz can opt for its Beetle Juice, a blackberry smash made with ginger beer and THC ($12), which can be substituted for gin.
Bargoers can also participate in costume contests, which will award film tickets to winners with the best ghoulish getup, and a culminating “strange and unusual” fun run hosted by the pizza joint and its partner, Freaks Come Out at Night Run Club, a nonprofit that raises money through organized running events.
