Houston Vs NYC for pursuing music? Is Houston a good place to begin my music (singing) journey?

Hi. I am from Miami area and i am leaving for a multitude of reasons. I need to leave within the next few months.

My only options is to move to NYC with a family member or be on my own in Texas since I can afford rent here.

I have been training to become a proper/professional vocalist / singer for a few years and my goals are live performances as well as albums on steaming platforms.. making my own music and all that.

Does Houston have a good music scene for R&b, soul, pop music?

Is this a city where there’s at least some opportunities for me to get out there and perform?

Does Houston have other creatives here?- musicians to collab and make music with? I would also need to get a coach…

(By the way I’ll be getting a day time job but I still want to do my singing)
