Houston Tipping Culture

Just went through the drive thru at Beck’s Prime and they handed me a machine to give them a tip and pay? Why in the world am I expected to tip when going through a drive through? I don’t understand this… it seems like everywhere I go in Houston now is expecting a tip and the options are always listed with a minimum of 18%. If a true service is provided, I will happily tip, but some of these places are getting out of hand.
