Houston releases schedule for city budget presentations, public input

As the city of Houston prepares its annual budget, members of the public can hear presentations on individual city departments’ budget proposals and offer feedback. The city’s 2020-21 adopted budget was $5.1 billion and was passed amid intense scrutiny of city spending , particularly for the police department. Mayor Sylvester Turner will present the city’s overall budget proposal on May 11. City Council votes on the budget June 2 and individual council members have the opportunity to suggest amendments to the mayor’s proposal. The city’s 2021-2022 fiscal year begins July 1.
