Houston metro region sees modest job growth in August

The Bayou City recorded modest job growth in the month of August, though employment across the region remains significantly impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Employers in the Houston metro region added 5,300 net nonfarm jobs during the month of August, according to figures released by the Texas Workforce Commission Sept. 18. The Houston region’s unemployment rate was 8.1% in August, down from 9.5% in July, per the TWC.
