Houston Metro buses on time?

I have a 2-month internship in downtown Houston soon and am hoping to take either Bus 20 or Bus 25 + the red line to get there. I already ordered a Q card but was wondering: are the buses reliable/on time, especially in the mornings? Are they safe for a female in her early 20s? Trying to decide if I should use public transport or pay for Uber/Lyft, which is much more expensive. Thanks!
