Houston Metro Bus

How is the bus system here?

I recently graduated from college and noticed that one of the bus routes is almost perfectly along the route I take from my apartment to my job. I think it would be a good thing to utilize public transportation (something the US is extremely lacking in), but my hometown’s bus system was notoriously awful, both for safety and efficiency. Just wanted to see if anybody here’s had any experiences with it, good or bad.
