Houston lifestyle – First time in the States, would love your advice.

Hi all!

I'd love to ask for some advice. My parents, US Citizens living in the Katy area of Houston, have been trying to convince me to come over to Houston and living there permenantly.

I'm a 29 yo Asian male that spent most of my life in Singapore, growing up. My primary language is English, but I can speak Japanese and Chinese as well.

What advice would you give to me? What kind of lifestyle should I expect? I've never been to the states before.

I'm a fairly independant person, I like racing cars (would love to visit CotA), trucks, and a rural kind of lifestyle. I love horses, (would love to own one).

Profession wise, I did 5 years with the Singapore army (rangers), now Im working as a sales manager for an oil & gas firm.

I love embracing different cultures, and want to integrate and assimilate into being a Texan.
