Houston Kayakers?

I'm looking to get into kayaking (not the ideal time of year I know) but none of my existing friends or family use kayaks themselves. I've seen there is a Houston Kayak club and I will investigate them further, but I was also wondering if any fellow Houstonian redditors are also Kayakers and would be interested in showing me the ropes and maybe doing some kayaking together?
