Houston ISD could be taken over by TEA as early as next week, Mayor Sylvester Turner says
Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner said he has heard rumors from state legislators and other sources, who have all told him the state intends to replace Houston Independent School District’s superintendent and entire school board. If this move comes to fruition, the TEA will be responsible for all of HISD’s 273 schools, including its 190,000 students, he said.
