Houston IRL Speed Dating Review (1/2)

Hello friends! I made a post on Friday (see here) (which was removed for some reason 👿) asking about the IRL Speed Dating Events happening around Houston. I had the opportunity to go to a MyCheekyDate (MCD) event on Friday per /u/lablake42492's recommendation, and a LightningDates (LD) event on Sunday. Since a few people were asking about it, I wanted to tell y'all about my experience!

MyCheekyDate (5.9/10): the event was pretty organized and professional. We sat at a table while new men rotated every 2 minutes or so. I met with a bunch of people, but really only vibed with one (we're talking a bit now). I thought it was an upgrade from the dating apps, definitely more fun and genuine, but it was just a bit too intense, professional, and draining for me personally. It's like the moment conversations start to become interesting, they ring the bell and rotate. It's also $40 per ticket which is pretty steep imo.

LightningDates (8.6/10): ngl I was kinda questioning the event at first because it was hosted at Whole Foods, but it was actually pretty great overall! There were no hosts or organizers, instead they hosted and guided the event through text messages. The event was super casual, and the rotations were a lot longer than MCD (like each rotation lasted 10 minutes instead of 2) which I felt made for better, more intimate conversations. Despite meeting only 7 men here, I actually ended up vibing and matching with 3. The ticket price was $10.

Overall, I liked both events more than dating apps. Personally, I think you'd like MyCheekyDate more if you're a fancy working professional or something, but you'd like LightningDates more if you're just a casual everyday type person.
