Houston house foundations

Moving to Houston and plan to buy a house in one of the smaller areas outside Houston proper (spring, cypress, etc). Do most houses in the area have foundation issues? I hear a lot about it and, having had a house with foundation issues previously, would really like to avoid doing that again.
