Houston Grand Opera cuts production schedule, implements first-ever layoffs due to Covid-19

The Houston Grand Opera announced June 23 that the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic has forced it to join the ranks of the many local performing arts organizations that will be canceling much of their upcoming seasons.

The Grand Opera will also implement the first layoffs in the organization’s history to offset the financial hit it will take as a result of the dozens of performances it plans to cancel.
