Houston Environmental Hazards – High School Research
Hello everyone!
My name is Aditya Namjoshi. I am an AP Research student at Tompkins High School in Katy ISD. For this class, I am currently researching the extent to which children of color in the Houston metropolitan area are at a greater risk of airborne toxin exposure. Headlines, both recent and historic, regarding waste-emitting facilities adjacent to schools such as Cesar Chavez High School have caught my attention, particularly in how the learning and natural environment of the children in the surrounding areas have been affected. Thus far, I have conducted correlational research on race being a predominant factor in an child’s likelihood to face environmental hazards – especially in the Houston area.
I am looking for individuals in the Houston area who are willing to either fill out a survey or attend a virtual interview to discuss their experiences or observations with environmental hazards including, but not limited to, petrochemical plants and waste processing sites. Please keep in mind that your name will be kept confidential, but the information you provide will be used in my research paper. If you are from southeast Houston or have any connection to pollution-impacted schools, please consider participating. Please message me if you, or anyone you know, are willing to participate, so I can forward a copy of the questionnaire.
Thank you for your time!
