Houston definitely needs to fix their goddamn pipes.
I'm a local DJ for a club down in EaDo. Last weekend on Friday and Saturday, we've had to close early due to plumbing issues. For two nights in a row, we got an overflow of sewage waters and waste onto the floor. And of course we get a bad odor inside the club as well. This is entirely a city issue, and not on the fault of the venue. I went by the club last night and the issue still hasn't resolved, despite the bar manager having called the city to come and rectify the issue.
I believe some of the workers the City of Houston hire to work on the pipes are somewhat inadequate, since the first time we called them to fix the issue, they worked on pipes leading to the wrong building. Everything is a mess when it comes to these pipes it seems. Our club isn't the only one on the street that has suffered from this. The rumor mill is that venues like Warehouse Live are looking to close down because of this exact issue, which tells me that this has been going on long before I started gigging in the area.
As a DJ and entertainer who relies on gigs at venues like these to put food on the table, two nights in a row hurt quite a lot. If the City of Houston knows that this is a major issue and venues have to keep calling on them to help, why aren't they doing a better job? An even better question, why is our city's pipelines in such terrible condition?
