Houston City Council OKs expanded outdoor seating option for Main Street restaurants, bars

Restaurants and bars along Main Street in downtown Houston will soon have a new option for outdoor dining.

Houston City Council approved “More Space: Main Street,” an expansion of the existing “More Space” program, on Nov. 18. Certain blocks on both the north- and southbound lanes of Main Street between Commerce and Rusk downtown will be closed to vehicular traffic temporarily. Restaurants and bars will be able to use the roadway to create or expand patios.
