Houston City Beat’s High School Internship Program
What is a High School Internship?
High School Internships are professional learning experiences that give high school students an opportunity to use what they have learned in school and demonstrate in a professional environment their skills – in a real-world situation.
Houston City Beat has created an experiential Internship program for high school student to help them increase their skills which will also help in the college admissions process.
What you will Gain
In addition to having your work published and seen by many people for an evergreen length of time, you will gain further experience in areas such as written communication, teamwork, organization, creative brainstorming, and professionalism. We also believe that our internships prepare students for leadership roles at their university and in their companies.
What we will Provide
Once you are accepted into the program, we will send you the process of submitting your work for publishing. We will provide constructive feedback for all work submitted for publication to meet the standards of the website. We will do everything possible to make sure your projects are meaningful and offer a real-world experience. As such, we are available during regular business hours to answer any questions and provide necessary feedback.
What we are Looking For
We are looking for students who are interested in writing – whether it is writing about your school, your community, or other topics of interest – we are looking for students who want to write and share stories and experiences of living in the Greater Houston area. Your writing/video projects will be done during times that are convenient to you. We do not require in person meetings, unless you are putting together a project that involves other students at your school.

Interested students must currently be juniors or seniors (at time of application) who will have advanced to senior status for submitting work to be published. If submitting pictures and videos of your projects/articles, you will need access to a phone with camera or digital camera (with recording capabilities if you will be submitting videos to go with your articles)
