Houston barbecue restaurant owner pens letter asking for mayor’s help amid shuttered businesses
Over 700 Houston-area restaurateurs and restaurant workers have co-signed a letter asking for relief in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic decimating business across the city.
The letter, which Truth BBQ co-owner Abbie Byrom wrote to Mayor Sylvester Turner, details five main requests:
Negotiating delayed or deferred sales tax payments on the state level
Mandate for landlords to charge rent at-cost, a 30-day relief, or renegotiate leases to scale back to market rate in 90 days
