Houston-area school districts adopt District of Innovation status hoping to bolster workforce
The majority of Houston-area districts are now considered Districts of Innovation, meaning those school districts have the ability to bypass certain state laws. In the state of Texas, there are now nearly 980 districts of innovation. The two most recent school districts to hop on the DOI bandwagon are Houston Independent School District and Cypress-Fairbanks ISD.
