Houston Anglers: What fish is this?

We recently moved to Houston area. I'm not a big fisherman but I'll take my son out to catch little sunfish, bluegill, and an occasional bass in a lake / retention pond near our house. Caught this fish this morning, but can't figure out what species it is. Hoping some of you east Texas natives can help. Is it just a really big crappie?
