Houston and Texas have been so boring – what to do as a 19 year old here?
My gf made a post about this but I am hoping to maybe get some different answers, or to just even see if people will loosen up a bit and try to relate instead of attacking. We are all in this together these have just been my experiences
So I have been living here for 5 months, fresh out of a almost 6 year period of living in bangkok.
During my time there, it was the best time of my life. I was always doing something, going to bars, clubs, smoking weed, going to parties, riding motorcycles with my friends, getting tattoos, going on rooftops just vibing to music looking at the city, going and eating amazing food, rooftop bars, renting hotel rooms and air bnb's, traveling to nearby beaches, renting yachts for a day, riding jet skis, meeting famous people who come there, going to big beautiful malls and shopping, riding motorcycle taxis, eating street food, chatuchak, walking the safe streets trying to find things to do or just sitting by a pool – I was never bored.
I also always found some cultured, worldly, like minded individuals that I could always just vibe with.
Here I have basically found no friends, and my extent of fun has been spending 90 dollars on gas and driving to hobby lobby to paint or eating at torchies.
I can't go to bars here, Galveston beaches are terrible and unkept, I cant walk anywhere bc a 5 min drive is a 40 min walk due to poor urban planning, I can't walk to0 far from my house as well bc of the dangerous areas like Travis street where I get harassed by homeless and non homeless people alike.
The nicest mall is the Galleria and any day of the week I can never find parking. Not to mention the stairs going up to the mall from the garage had literal eaten chicken wings on the floor.
Also a place most comparable to where I lived in Bangkok is the hanover, and minimum rent there is 2,000, almost twice the price of what it would be in bangkok.
I worry about my life everytime I leave my house and out of the US, houstonians are very friendly, but compared to the rest of the world it comes off very hostile.
Not to mention horrendous drivers – not using turn signals or passing me when im already 15 over are my biggest pet peeves.
I also can't ride a motorcycle here yet because they are just too expensive, and significantly more dangerous than in bkk.
Goin bowling, watching a movie, eating, watching a sports game or walking in a park just is not my idea of fun in the slightest…
Someone give me some sort of idea, I am suffering here for real and I can't move back to bangkok yet!
I need unique experiences, I need international friends, I need real fun… help!!!!
