Houston accent?

Native Houstonian here.

I’ve always considered my accent to be a General American one; nothing out of the ordinary.
Few days ago, one of my friends up in the Dallas-Fort Worth area was complaining about the “Houston” accent, such as mine; what the hell is a Houston accent?

Is there even a specific standard for such an accent, or is it just your plain ol’ Texas twang but mellowed out?
