Homeowners renewal headaches
I am sure lots of you are have had the same shock I just had opening my homeowner renewal from Nationwide.– a 30%+ increase (I am in Katy for reference)
So I spent the better half of my morning shopping around . I got excited when I saw Geico and Allstate via Costco offer me almost 25% less, THEN I realized they are imposing a 5% deductible Hurricane min ..Nationwide is at 2% windstorm and cyclone
Obviously this is serious money if another Hurricane rolls through town so it begs the question:
– Hurricane insurance vs flood- since all these policies include wind damage and we are obliged to get flood insurance, what exactly is this coverage for. Or would they auto deny the wind damage coverage since if it comes from a "hurricane"
– Anyone else seen these minimum coverages increase? I am wondering if that's how these insurance companies are justifying this scam
