Homeless Pregnant Dog

There is a pregnant dog living in the homeless encampment at the Wheeler underpass on Richmond near Main St (right by Shipleys). I drove by yesterday and a neighbor also saw her and gave her food. I’m not sure how the interaction went with the dog’s homeless owner. Can anybody advise on the best way to try to provide some help here? My goal is not to take the dog away – I recognize that the dog likely provides companionship and protection to her owner. But I know that a vet checkup and food could really benefit the dog and the puppies. Obviously, if the man feels that he can’t care for the dog, I’d get help to foster etc but that’s not really the goal here. I think just getting the dog to a vet and making sure she has what she needs is best right now. Any ideas on how to handle this?
