Historical sites

I have a kid turning 13 at the end of the summer and for his birthday he wants to "explore" Houston. He likes science/military/historical stuff. Over the years we've gone to the battleship Texas, lone star flight museum, sea wolf park, space center, natural science museum, etc. We've never gone to bishops palace so I have that on my list, but does anyone have any other suggestions?
