HISD Middle School Math Curriculum

I have a 6th grader using the new Miles requested Carnegie MATHia curriculum. I know is only the third week and like any curriculum I'm sure it has some positives and negatives BUT the tests/quizzes are apparently being prepared by the district.

The first assessment taken by my 6th grader had very limited equivalence to the material taught within the curriculum – the material taught was Arithmetic in nature but the material tested was very much Algebraic in nature.

Is the district so disconnected that they aren't even bothering to align their created assessments which I believe they are forcing teachers to use to have synergy with the curriculum.

Naturally I tried to contact someone at the district office (LOL to that).

Please provide some info/feedback as to your child's or teachers version of what they are experiencing
