Hip(ish) fusion food for birthday dinner?
My birthday is coming up and my folks want to take me out. I love all food, especially Asian (Chinese, Indian, Thai) my dad does as well. Problem is my mom and sister aren't the biggest fans.
Is there any sort of restaurant that offers quality 'authentic' (whatever that means) ethnic food but also more "accessible" food for less adventurous eaters. Ideally it would have at least some semblance of ambiance but that's less important.
For context, we have been going to Himalaya for a few years in a row but last time the quality didn't seem as great and the owners antics finally rubbed us the wrong way. I know Loro well and while it's tasty I've had it a ton and was hoping to branch out a bit.
I was thinking possibly trying to get into Uchi on their sake social hour, but that is just a touch too pricey for me to feel good about suggesting it.
Kind of specific I know so that's why I thought to make a post, but any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
