High Voltage Lines

High Voltage Lines

During the thunderstorm on Monday, I noticed that the neighbor’s tree was glowing red where it touched the high voltage lines. I (anxiously) watched branches fall off as they burned through. Next day, I see this. Three days later, Centerpoint comes out and says that the tree does not need to be trimmed.

Is this normal? No commercial tree trimmers will touch it considering proximity to the lines. Do we just… hope that the lines keep burning their way through without starting a fire? Need advice on how to get this taken care of.
