Hey Houston [newsletter and podcast] is ending on Oct. 24

Another Houston based newsletter City Cast Houston/Hey Houston is biting the dust. Nothing can compare to the hey day of the weekly Houston Press…

|| || |Friday, October 17 | |Good morning ☀️ I have some sad news to share with you: City Cast Houston and Hey Houston are suspending operations. Our last podcast and newsletter will be Oct. 24. We’ll miss being a part of the local conversation in Houston, and we are so grateful for the support you’ve given us. I've loved writing to you every morning for the last three years. From covering Hurricane Beryl, the twists and turns of the state takeover in HISD, highlighting the chefs and restaurants of our amazing food scene, to debating why exactly we say feeder roads in Houston. It’s never been a dull moment writing Hey Houston! You’ve given us support at every turn, but (news flash!) media is a hard business, and local media is even harder. We haven’t been able to bring in as many listeners, readers, advertisers, and members as we need. Ultimately, our bosses decided to close up shop here for now, with the hope that City Cast will be able to return to Houston in the future. For now, City Cast will continue operating in 13 other cities across the U.S., including Seattle and the Twin Cities, which launch next week. We want to use this final week together to really celebrate the city. We would love to hear from you about what you love most about Houston. Please email us at [houston@citycast.fm](mailto:houston@citycast.fm) or leave us an audio message at (713) 489-6972. If there’s an episode you loved, it’s not going anywhere. Past episodes and newsletters will remain available at houston.citycast.fm. Finally, I want you to know what a joy it’s been for me to write Hey Houston since 2022. I have loved every single day that I’ve gotten to interact with you. If you couldn’t tell from the newsletter, I love Houston with all of my heart! It’s been an honor for a regular Houston girl like me to have the privilege of being the voice behind Hey Houston. I’m so grateful to every single person that’s been a part of the journey ♥️ Thanks Brooke|
