Here are some tips for navigating IAH
IAH is one of the biggest airports in the world, with about 45 million passengers in 2021. It also just recorded a record breaking Labor Day weekend.
Avoid flying first thing in the morning. I know most people will tell you this is the best time to fly but it's not. Morning commuters make this the busiest time of day. The best time to fly is between ∼ 9am – 3pm (or after 7pm), after which the late afternoon rush starts. To avoid long lines, I recommend checking the live and historical TSA wait times before you fly. If you are flying international, you can find the average wait times for the borders here.
It's relatively easy to get lost in IAH if you are not super familiar with the airport. Take a look at the airport's map, there is even an interactive one where you can plot your route from A to B.
Also, the city council just approved a 470 million investment in Hobby. The investment will upgrade the West Concourse with new gates and infrastructure, supposedly it will be ready by 2026/27.
