Help with replacing PCB on a HDD
I have a failing 2TB hard drive in my home desktop. It stores some family pictures, home videos and other media. Most (but not all) is backed up, but I'd really like to recover all of the data if possible.
I took the drive to microcenter to see if they could clone the drive, and their process failed. Their recommended next step is sending the drive off to a data recovery lab. That's a very expensive option that I'm not ready to do yet.
I poked around online, and I think it could be a bad PCB. I ordered a replacement, but I need to swap the BIOS chip from the old board to the new one. I don't have the skills to do that myself.
Any r/Houston folks handy with a soldering iron and willing to help me with this?
