Help with Houston CS Conference!
Hello everyone, My name is Karl, and I"m currently a student at Rice University studying Math and Linguistics. A little about myself before I start to share my goal. I'm going to teach a class my next semester at Rice called COLL 128: The Art of Lazy Programming https://courses.rice.edu/courses/!SWKSCAT.cat?p_action=COURSE&p_term=202310&p_crn=14319 that basically teaches linux and *UNIX tools and additionally I'm currently trying to set up a linux mirror server at Rice University that is very similar to the ones found seen here: http://mirrors.rit.edu/ and http://mirrors.mit.edu/ in the goal of benefiting the open source community here in texas! You may know me vaguely as SeniorMars if you are active in the (neo)vim/emacs/rust communities.
I'm currently working on making a Houston CS conference and so far I've gathered various students from many Houston universities and have gotten responses from researchers who are interested in making this a reality! This Houston CS conference will focus on general CS advancement in academia and industry. I foresee this being an opportunity for individuals in Houston to share cool projects in terms of algorithm optimizations, programming languages, computer graphics, ethics, and lessons from senior developers.
This is a big endeavor but with your support, I could make this a reality! This would be a great opportunity to bring together everyone in Houston to share and collaborate on interesting projects. If you can please help me reach more people or if you know anyone I can reach please let me know. My email is cjh16@rice.edu
Sincerely,
Karl
