Floyd Mike Miles is the CEO of Third Futures Schools a charter management company located in Colorado. He was appointed as the superintendent of the Houston Independent School District by his friend and Texas Commissioner of Education Mike Morath. F. Mike Miles was the former superintendent of Dallas ISD where he was under investigation in 2015 for violating board policy and eventually resigned after 3 years into his contract.

Miles has spent $470,000 of HISD taxpayers money on a convocation play that was produced by his son. With the help of the rubber stamping Board of Managers appointed by Morath to replace those elected by the voters and HISD taxpayers, he has changed HISD’s board policy to allow him to spend $1 million per contract up from $100k for previous HISD superintendents. In addition the out of control spending F. Mike Miles made him and his Chief Financial Officer (friend) Jim Terry the sole managers of ALL of HISD’s assests. Mike Miles' wrecklessness has now created a $270 million dollar deficit which is $120 million dollars higher than the deficit projected by the previous administration.

F. Mike Miles has fired the HISD Curriculum Department, teachers and principals since his arrival in HISD. He has created an environment of fear and intimidation which is not anything new according to previous teachers and administrators at the Academy of Avanced Learing in Aurora, Colorado.

On January 17, 2024 after a hard freeze Miles forced students and staff in HISD to take the NWEA test in classrooms that had bursted pipes, no running water, and no heat. At Harvard Elementary in the Heights, the principal sent an email asking parents to bundle their children up. Once the students began to arrive teachers then asked parents to bring space heaters to the school.

According to the Houston Public Media's article, one parent of a third grader and kindergartener at the school said the school's principal sent out an email around 6:45 a.m. Wednesday, asking parents to dress their kids in hats, scarves and coats, as there was no heat at the school.

"I assumed that this meant they were about to postpone or cancel school," said the parent, who requested to remain anonymous. "I brought my kids around 10 a.m., along with a space heater, and when I went down to the kindergarten classroom, it was absolutely freezing."

She said she brought her kids because she trusted that, if HISD decided to keep classes in session, it must not be too bad. She later found out that, in addition to the cold, the school's cafeteria did not have water due to frozen pipes.

Still, Miles stood by his decision to keep schools open and testing in progress as campuses faced heating issues. After a District Advisory Board meeting a video of Mike Miles saying he regretted closing schools and he should've ignored the whining was leaked via social media.

Due to Mr. Miles lack of competence as a leader we are demanding the immediate removal of Floyd Mike Miles as the appointed superintendent of the Houston Independent School District.
