Help- My apartment is making me sick
Help- My apartment is making me sick
Last month, I moved into an apartment in the Woodlands, Texas (near Houston). I am from NC. I’m a female in her 20’s and shouldn’t be feeling this way nor have I ever before. I have never been this sick before in my life, and am trying to figure out why. I don’t make a lot of money to pay for expensive medical testing or hiring contractors or consultants to come to this apartment. I have tried to get me apartment complex to do mold testing and all they did was come in and use a moisture meter near my A/C. I’m hoping someone might be able to give me a hint as to why I’m having these symptoms. Only when I am home- I get so violently sick I cannot function. Symptoms include: Extreme headache: it starts in my forehead and creeps it’s way to my shoulders. It leads to body aches in the rest of my body. Dizziness: when I take deep breaths within the house I get extremely dizzy and foggy headed. I try to avoid taking deep breaths but when I’m outside it’s fine. Nausea: I’ve been getting nauseous when I eat when I’m home off of things I know I can eat and they don’t bother me elsewhere. Lung tightness: when I take normal or deep breaths it doesn’t feel good, again, only inside the house. Insomnia: I have always been able to sleep through the night and I cannot do that here whatsoever. It’s currently 3 am and I had to sit outside for me head to hurt less and put less pressure on my eyes to come outside to type this and hope that the sickness dies down a little. I also physically feel like I’ve been having an elevated pulse and high blood pressure. I’m familiar with the symptoms, and this feels spot on.
And again, this is only when I’m inside the apartment. After about an hour of sitting outside I feel alright again. When I’m out and about or at others’ houses, I’m absolutely fine.
A couple things I think it could possibly be is carbon monoxide leaking or mold. If you know about this, please affirm or deny your thoughts. Everything is appreciated.
Thanks in advance for responses. I just cant afford thorough medical testing or independent testing and desperately need ideas. Also, if you have legal advice for the apartment complex I would appreciate that too, because they’re trying to get away with not doing anything.
