Help — Italian Choices

I am in Houston a few days for work & convention. I wanted to try different kinds of food but definitely want to see who has good Italian food. I did some research and am torn between: Porta Vino (recommended by friend), Amalfi (personal interest), Impero Italiano (intrigued) . I know they are totally different. I just don't want a chain or fake authentic or too trendy. Would prefer Southern Italian cuisine. Note: I am trying other types of food in town, but I need this choice to be informed lol.
