Help if possible – Rover sitter “lost” or most likely neglected our dog
| |
We left our dog with a reputable Rover dog sitter we have used before while we were out of town from 6/2-6/22. The day of our flight back, Wednesday 21 June, we got a message from the sitter saying that our dog Argo “broke a window in the middle of the night and escaped….” This would have been Tuesday night the 20th. Argo is sweet, calm, and never leaves your side. Has never tried to escape once. Even if he could break a window, this story absolutely doesn’t add up (no blood? Fur? Wakeup?) We went to the sitter’s house with the police and asked to see their security camera footage and they refused to show it to us. Now they’re not responding to us at all and sharing no details. We stopped getting photos of Argo after June 4th, but we were still getting updates that everything was going well. We’re trying to figure out what happened to Argo if he’s even still alive. They have given us every reason to believe something happened under their care and they are trying to cover it up. By posting this message on other apps, we were able to find another person that used this sitter in the same timeframe as Argo and her dog sustained some serious injuries under the Rover sitter care. Thankfully the Rover sitter has been suspended from caring for other pets, but it won’t get our pup back The house is on: Ivy Wall Ct, Houston, Texas and the neighborhood name is Fleetwood. Ernesto is the name of the sitter. While we are not sure if Argo is still alive, we’re hoping this community can help us get some answers:
We are absolutely devastated by this whole situation and feel hopeless. Grateful for any help or information. submitted by /u/jcharger |
